Fatehpur Cyber Crime Police Arrest Man for Blackmailing Woman with Explicit Content After Fake Marriage Proposal
FATEHPUR: On 09.09.2024, the Cyber Crime Police Station team in Fatehpur arrested an individual, Pradeep Kumar Sonkar, involved in a case of blackmailing a young woman. The accused established contact with the victim through social media, proposed marriage, and later coerced her into a relationship. He captured inappropriate photos and videos of the woman and, when the marriage proposal was rejected, threatened to release the material online. The case has been registered under sections 67A of the IT Act, with additional charges added under sections 61(2), 69, 78, 238, 318(4), and 358(2) of the BNS Act, as well as section 66D of the IT Act.

Modus Operandi:
The accused, Pradeep Kumar Sonkar, made contact with the victim through Facebook and Instagram, pretending to be unmarried. He proposed marriage to the woman and her family via phone calls. After gaining her trust, he met with her in Fatehpur, where he created explicit photos and videos of the woman without her consent. When the victim’s family discovered the accused was already married, they arranged her marriage elsewhere. In retaliation, the accused shared the explicit material on social media to disrupt her upcoming marriage. The accused used multiple pre-activated SIM cards, purchased through agents, to avoid detection.

Arrest and Seizure:
The team arrested Pradeep Kumar Sonkar and seized two mobile phones: a Lava keypad phone and a Vivo Android smartphone, which were used in the crime. The case was registered as Crime Number 12/24 under the relevant sections.
