In a  case of medical malpractice, a man impersonating a renowned UK-based cardiologist is accused of performing 15 heart surgeries at a reputed hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district. The alleged imposter, identified as Narendra Yadav, reportedly posed as Dr. N John Camm—a respected London-based heart specialist—and conducted multiple procedures at Mission Hospital between December 2024 and February 2025.

The matter came to light after families of deceased patients raised concerns over the authenticity of the doctor, leading to a formal complaint lodged with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). As per the complaint, several patients lost their lives under suspicious circumstances allegedly due to Yadav’s faulty treatment.

Confirming the grim developments, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Mukesh Jain and District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Vikram Chauhan have so far verified two deaths linked to possible medical negligence.

Meanwhile, Damoh Collector Sudhir Kochar has assured that a special investigative team has been formed, but refrained from further comments until the inquiry concludes.

The revelations have sent shockwaves through the community, especially among families who lost loved ones during treatment.

One such grieving relative, Nabi Qureshi, recounted the ordeal of his 63-year-old mother, Raheesa, who was admitted to the hospital on January 13 after a heart attack. Despite undergoing angiography and a subsequent angioplasty, she suffered a fatal cardiac arrest and passed away.

Another disturbing account came from Jitendra Singh of Patera, who took his father, Mangal Singh, to the hospital for a simple gastric issue on February 4. “They performed an angiography and suddenly said heart surgery was needed. He died within hours. Doctors were missing before and after the operation, and an expensive injection we were told to buy was never even used,” alleges a source.

Narendra Yadav has reportedly been missing since the complaint was filed. His audacious use of a globally respected medical expert’s identity to deceive patients has raised serious questions about the hospital’s internal checks and administrative oversight.

In response to the growing uproar, the NHRC has dispatched a fact-finding team to Damoh from April 7 to 9. NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo confirmed that the investigation will cover the hospital, the alleged imposter, and relevant district officials.
