Fake Call Centre Busted: Gang Cheated Hundreds Using Leaked Database Of Credit Card, Five Arrested

NEW DELHI: Stepping up action against fake call centers, Delhi Police has raided a shady call centre and arrested the mastermind and four women who were cheating hundreds of people across India by offering credit card and other attractive offers.

The call centre which was operational from Rohini area had their script ready based on the database they used to get. The mastermind had arranged a database of different companies and based on the nature of data they kept their script ready. The gang offered a credit card,  attractive offers, gift cards, VIP Money-saving cards, Healthcare Scheme etc.

Those arrested have been identified as Rahul Rathore (30),  Muskan (21 ), Sonam (26), Babita (22) and Kajal (22 ).

According to the police, staff of Cyber Cell, Rohini District on the intervening night of 14-15 June conducted raided and busted a fake call centre running at F-4/2, Opposite Chawla Properties, second Floor, Sector-16 Rohini.

Rahul Rathore, head of the centre and the mastermind behind the gang failed to produce valid permission and authorized certificates to run the call centre when police raided his facility. Cops said Rathore fumbled and could not produce any valid documents.

Rathore during the investigation revealed that he obtained the contact and credit card details from one of his accomplices and then callers based on already written script starts calling customers and cheat them.

The gang impersonated themselves as credit card service provider and offered attractive offers, gift cards, VIP Moneysaving cards, healthcare scheme etc. During the call, they used to secretly get other personal details and password to siphon off the money.

Police said further investigation is in progress to identify more victims and arrest database provider.

The team involved in the crackdown included SI Anand Singh, SI Sunil Kumar, PSI Prashant, W/PSI Shipra and W/Ct Neetu.
