The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday launched a sweeping raid on 12 locations in Jaipur, targeting land dealers and real estate operators suspected of large-scale financial fraud. The searches, beginning around 6 a.m., were conducted with heavy police deployment and focused on properties linked to Gyan Chand Agarwal, Govardhan Agarwal, Grand Uniara Hotel owner Dalpat Singh, Prabhulal Chopra, and members of the JKD Group. According to sources, this is among the largest ED crackdowns on Jaipur’s land trade, involving scrutiny of records spanning the last two years.

The operation zeroed in on alleged land mafia Gyan Chand Agarwal, who already faces over 200 fraud cases in Jaipur. ED teams raided his offices in Gopalpura and Mansarovar, while also searching premises linked to his close associate Jugal Kishore. In addition, raids extended to Dalpat Singh, Avneesh Bansal, Anil Jain, and Badri. Investigators suspect large volumes of benami properties and undisclosed income tied to land transactions, with initial findings pointing to systemic manipulation of records to conceal black money.

History of Allegations

Agarwal’s name has long been associated with fraudulent land dealings. Multiple police stations, including Shyam Nagar, Bhankrota, Mansarovar, and Shiprapath, have opened cases against him. He is listed as a history-sheeter by Jaipur police. Earlier, in February 2023, the Income Tax Department had also raided his properties, uncovering irregularities in land transactions.

Wednesday’s ED action is being viewed as a deeper probe into the network of financial dealings that earlier slipped through regulatory cracks.

Ongoing Probe and Possible Revelations

Officials believe the scale of the operation could expose crores of rupees in unaccounted wealth. The two-year financial records under scrutiny may reveal how funds were circulated through shell entities and benami accounts. ED sources indicated that the raids are still ongoing and more seizures are likely. With Jaipur’s booming land market often linked to shadow financing, the outcome of this probe could have wide implications for Rajasthan’s real estate sector.
