The Cyber Crime Police Station of Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate has dismantled an inter-state fraud syndicate that hacked the payment gateway of the Real11 Gaming App, siphoning off a whopping Rs 1.01 crore.

The authorities have arrested three accused and seized crucial evidence, including checkbooks, passbooks, ATMs, and mobile phones. Additionally, Rs 25 lakh has been frozen as part of the investigation.

Between July 17, 2024, and November 18, 2024, cybercriminals exploited loopholes in the Real11 Gaming Mobile App by creating fake user IDs and wallets. Initially, they deposited small amounts to build credibility within the system.

Then, through a sophisticated hacking technique, they manipulated the platform’s payment gateway, inflating their wallet balance with non-existent funds. Under the guise of legitimate transactions, the fraudsters withdrew a staggering Rs 1,01,14,095 across multiple accounts.

The scam came to light when Amit Yadav, a company representative, lodged an official complaint on November 27, 2024, at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Ghaziabad.

Acting on intelligence and digital footprints, the Cyber Crime Police Team traced the culprits to Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad and arrested:

  1. Deshraj, Fatehpur, Barabanki (UP).

  2. Abhishek Kumar, Fatehpur, Barabanki (UP).

  3. Aakash, Fatehpur, Barabanki (UP).

Police recovered multiple passbooks, checkbooks, ATMs, and mobile phones used in executing the fraud.

During interrogation, Deshraj revealed that his son Rajneesh, based in Tamil Nadu, played a crucial role in orchestrating the fraud. Additionally, his second son Anand, who resides in Jharkhand, was involved in similar fraudulent activities. The police suspect the gang had been exploiting vulnerabilities in various digital platforms for an extended period.

Authorities have frozen Rs 25 lakh linked to the fraudulent transactions while further investigations are underway to track additional members of the syndicate. Police are also examining how the hacking technique was executed to prevent future breaches in digital payment gateways.
