UPSC Coach Alleges Assault by IPS Trainee at Delhi Wedding, Video Sparks Outrage Online
A wedding in Delhi turned chaotic when a fight erupted between a UPSC coach and a trainee IPS officer. The altercation, allegedly involving physical assault, led to complaints being filed by both parties.
An upscale wedding in southwest Delhi’s Kapashera area took a dramatic turn on December 6 when an argument escalated into a physical altercation between a Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) coach and a 2023-batch trainee Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. The incident has sparked a public discussion, with both individuals filing complaints against each other.
Vikas Dhayal, a renowned civil services coach residing in Rajendra Nagar, accused the IPS trainee, Rahul Balhara, of hitting him on the head with a glass during the scuffle. Dhayal further shared a video of the incident on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), showing his bloodied face and clothes, claiming this as evidence of the attack.
In his social media post, Dhayal expressed dissatisfaction with the police’s initial hesitance to act on his complaint, suggesting that the case gained traction only after his video went viral. He alleged, “My report of a potentially fatal attack by IPS trainee Rahul Balhara, captured on CCTV, was ignored by the authorities. Instead, a counter-case was filed against me.”
Delhi Police confirmed that complaints have been lodged by both parties involved. A senior officer stated, “We are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident. Initial findings suggest the altercation began as a verbal disagreement before escalating. Two distinct complaints have been registered, and investigations are ongoing.”
Eyewitnesses reported that tensions between the two began over a trivial issue and quickly spiraled out of control. One of the individuals reportedly struck the other with a glass, leading to the injuries highlighted in Dhayal’s video. The exact sequence of events is yet to be confirmed as the police analyze the CCTV footage.
The incident has drawn mixed reactions from the public, particularly on social media, where debates have emerged regarding the behavior expected of civil servants. Many users expressed shock that a trainee officer and a reputed coach, both connected to the prestigious UPSC framework, could be involved in such an incident.
In another unrelated but equally disturbing incident in Govindpuri, a 20-year-old man named Sudheer was stabbed to death during a heated argument over the use of a shared toilet. The fight involved Sudheer and the family of Bhikam Singh, his neighbor. The altercation reportedly began when Sudheer complained about the toilet not being flushed.
Bhikam Singh, along with his wife and sons, attacked Sudheer and his brothers. Sudheer succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, while his brothers continue to recover. Police have arrested Bhikam Singh and his family, filing a murder case against them. DCP Ravi Kumar Singh confirmed that the matter is under investigation.
