In a decisive move to tackle land fraud and streamline real estate transparency, the Delhi government is preparing to unveil a portal that will publicly list all non-saleable and disputed properties across the city. The announcement follows Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s directive to all district magistrates to carry out jurisdiction-wide surveys and compile detailed inventories of properties entangled in legal or administrative complications.
The portal will feature properties booked for illegal constructions, those under litigation or ownership disputes, and lands such as evacuee or gram sabha plots. Officials say the initiative seeks to empower citizens, especially home buyers, by arming them with critical information and preventing costly legal entanglements.
How the Portal Will Work: Data Meets Vigilance
Officials behind the project have confirmed that the platform will be linked with existing land records and digitized property databases. “We are aiming for real-time transparency. Buyers should be able to check a property’s legal status before making investments,” said a senior official involved in the project.
This digital solution is expected to prevent repeats of incidents like the recent demolition drive in Mehrauli, where flats built illegally on government land were razed, leaving homeowners in distress. “It’s not the buyer’s fault—they’re often victims of misinformation by builder mafias,” said the official.

The portal is also expected to fast-track registrations by replacing legacy paper systems with an e-governance approach, cutting bureaucratic delays and lowering corruption risks.
Justice at the Core: Chief Minister’s Parallel Message
While launching the initiative, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also addressed a parallel concern—strengthening the legal infrastructure. At a Delhi Bar Council event where 1,400 advocates were formally enrolled, she emphasized the legal fraternity’s role in ensuring justice and transparency.
“True advocates not only defend clients but also protect constitutional values,” she said, encouraging lawyers to play an active role in supporting clean governance and public awareness.
The timing of both initiatives, one digital and the other legal, underscores the government’s holistic vision for citizen rights, trust in governance, and property safety.
