Counterfeit iPhone components seized

The crackdown was launched after the Crime Branch received specific information on March 6 that several shops in Rohini were selling fake iPhone parts to customers.

During the raids, an authorised representative from Apple joined the police team to verify the products. When asked, the shop owners failed to produce bills or authorisation from Apple to sell the products.

Police recovered a large quantity of counterfeit spare parts and accessories, including:

  • Around 1,000 back panels of various iPhone models
  • 180 bodies
  • 228 batteries
  • 48 camera and charging flex components
  • 738 back covers
  • 14 adapters
  • 109 USB cables

The total value of the seized items has been estimated at approximately ₹1.6 crore.

Investigation underway

Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of law and launched further investigation into the racket.

Officials said the accused had allegedly been sourcing counterfeit iPhone components from suppliers in the open market and selling them to unsuspecting customers as genuine products.

Authorities are now trying to trace the supply chain of the counterfeit parts and identify other individuals involved in the network.
