In a major anti-corruption crackdown, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police posted at C.R. Park police station while allegedly accepting ₹10 lakh as illegal gratification from a complainant.

The central agency registered a case against the accused officer on February 10, 2026, following allegations that he had demanded a total bribe of ₹25 lakh to “settle” a property dispute and ensure that no legal action would be taken against the complainant.

According to officials, the ASI allegedly assured the complainant that he would manage the case in his favour in exchange for the illegal payment. Acting on the complaint and after preliminary verification, the CBI laid a trap on the same day.

During the operation, the accused officer was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹10 lakh as part payment of the total ₹25 lakh allegedly demanded. The tainted cash was recovered on the spot and the officer was immediately taken into custody.

CBI officials said the arrest underscores the agency’s zero-tolerance approach toward corruption in public offices. The accused will be produced before a competent court as per procedure.

Sources said further investigation is underway to examine whether the officer acted alone or if other individuals were involved in the alleged bribe arrangement. The agency is also scrutinising related documents and communication records to establish the full chain of events.

The CBI reiterated that strict action against corrupt public servants remains a priority and urged citizens to report instances of bribery or undue demands by government officials.

Members of the public can approach the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of CBI at the CBI Building, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, or contact the office at 011-24367887 or mobile number 9650394847 to lodge complaints or provide relevant information.

The case adds to a series of recent anti-corruption operations conducted by the CBI, reinforcing oversight mechanisms within public institutions and sending a strong message against misuse of official authority.
