New Delhi — In a strong signal of India’s growing commitment to data privacy, the Future Crime Research Foundation (FCRF) has confirmed that hundreds of senior professionals, including senior civil servants, defence officials, CISOs, cybersecurity professionals and top industry leaders, have already joined its upcoming Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) course. The program, starting September 6, 2025, is seeing unprecedented demand, with early bird seats rapidly filling up.

A Timely Response to India’s Data Privacy Revolution

India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), enacted in 2023 and rolling out in phases through 2025, is redefining the way organisations collect, process, and protect personal data. The law mandates stringent consent protocols, data minimisation, cross-border transfer restrictions, and stiff penalties for non-compliance. For many organisations, appointing a Data Protection Officer is no longer optional, it’s mandatory.

“DPDPA is not just a compliance requirement; it is a strategic shift,” said Prof. Triveni Singh, Chief Mentor of FCRF. “CDPO is our way of preparing professionals to lead that shift with clarity and competence.”

Inside the CDPO Program

Spread over four weekends, the course delivers 16 modules across five practical tracks:

  1. Foundations of Data Protection — Evolution of privacy as a right, GDPR, CCPA, and DPDPA fundamentals.
  2. Governance & The DPO’s Role — Building governance frameworks, policies, and oversight mechanisms.
  3. Operational Compliance & Data Management — Data mapping, RoPA, retention schedules, archival and disposal security.
  4. Consent, Rights & Transparency — Managing lawful consent, children’s data, CMPs, and DSARs.
  5. Risk, Breach & Vendor Oversight — DPIAs, breach notifications, vendor contracts, and audit readiness.

Why India’s Leadership Is Signing Up

The CDPO course’s reputation was bolstered by FCRF’s earlier Certified Cyber Crisis Management Professional (CCMP) program, attended by over 500 senior officials from civil services, defence, cybersecurity, and regulatory sectors. That success has carried forward, attracting participants from critical sectors where data security is both a legal and national security imperative.
