Lucknow: Cases of rising cybercrime have made the Mewat region a new Jamtara. Cybercrooks from the area are adopting new methods and innovative techniques to dupe people. Criminals operating from here have become so fearless that they are misusing the name of the people in power or senior bureaucrats.

In the latest case, online fraudsters created a fake Facebook account of Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh. They copied his details and photographs from his social media account and made a clone account.

According to the police, criminals through clone account started contacting people in his friend list and started demanding money citing some emergency.

The matter came to light after his close friends who got the message from his cloned account contacted the 1985 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer to ask about his well being. Tiwari immediately contacted the police and informed about his personal details being misused online.

The police team through technical surveillance found that the account was being operated from Mathura area of Uttar Pradesh. Raids were conducted after which Sarafat Khan and Sukhdin Khan were arrested from Mathura region.
