The CopsGrid project, initiated by the Centre for Police Technology, seeks to establish a unified collaborative platform that brings together police agencies, forensic specialists, technology vendors and investigators under one interoperable ecosystem. The CPT, in partnership with industry, start-ups and OEMs, is already acting as a “hub” for demonstration of next-generation investigation, surveillance and forensic tools.
Within this context CopsGrid aspires to go further: to orchestrate shared frameworks, knowledge-bases, modular forensic workflows, case-management tools and cross-domain analytics so that investigators and LEAs can design their solution stacks, share best practices, and leverage forensic data systematically.

By pulling together domains such as mobile/disk/cloud forensics, memory forensics, drone and vehicle forensics, OSINT, dark-web investigations, crypto/blockchain forensics, big-data analytics, predictive policing, audio/video forensics, steganography, social media analytics, cyber-forensics vans, audit tools, banking/AML investigations and e-discovery, the platform enables end-to-end investigative lifecycle support.
These domains are essential because modern crime is multi-vector: digital devices, cloud apps, social media, blockchain transactions, drones, vehicles, GPS, dark-web meet traditional crime scenes. For police investigators and forensic professionals the ability to integrate across these domains means faster triage, evidence correlation, actionable intelligence and a more robust chain of custody.
For law-enforcement agencies, CopsGrid’s unified ecosystem means shared tooling, common standards, aggregated intelligence, interoperable workflows and collaborative training. Forensics professionals benefit from pooling case libraries, analytic templates, vendor-neutral assessments, and cross-domain knowledge transfer. In sum, CopsGrid becomes the foundation upon which smart, evidence-based policing is built: design your forensic tool-chain, share your lessons learned, draw upon the community’s expertise, and accelerate investigative outcomes across jurisdictions.

Domains overview

CopsGrid Forensic & Intelligence Domains – Overview Table is as follows:
  • AI / Deepfake Forensics Detection and verification of AI-generated or manipulated media (videos, images, voice). Helps identify fake evidence, misinformation, and digital impersonation in cyber and political crimes.
  • Crypto / Blockchain Forensics Tracking cryptocurrency transactions and blockchain wallet movements. Useful in financial crimes, ransomware, terror funding, and fraud cases.
  • Cloud Forensics Extraction and analysis of data stored on cloud platforms (Google Drive, AWS, etc.). Crucial for recovering online communication, backups, and cyber evidence.
  • Child Abuse Forensics (CSAM) Investigation of child sexual abuse material and online exploitation cases. Supports rescue operations, identifies offenders, and builds legal evidence.
  • Memory Forensics Capturing and analyzing volatile data from RAM. Essential for live malware, password, or encryption key recovery.
  • Disk Forensics Recovery and analysis of data from computer drives. Common in cyber fraud, insider threat, or evidence recovery cases.
  • Mobile Forensics Extraction and analysis of data from smartphones and tablets. Key for call logs, chats, GPS, app data in almost every modern investigation.
