CID of Andhra Pradesh Police gets award for innovative cyber crime portal.
Acknowledging the work of Andhra Pradesh Police in enabling the citizens to register a complaint online, its Crime Investigation Department (CID) has bagged prestigious Digital Technology Sabha Award for August 2020.
The CID is being felicitated for developing a new cybercrime portal — 4s4u.appolice.gov.in — which enables victims/complainants to report cybercrime complaints online. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the initiative through which cases related to child sexual abuse, child victim support, domestic violence, rape victim support, sexual harassment at workplace and street harassment can also be reported.
Additional Director-General, AP CID, P.V. Sunil Kumar, who conceived the project, has said that the interactive portal has been chosen under Internet of Things category for the Digital Technology Sabha Award 2020. The award will be given at Digital Sabha Virtual Conference to be held during August 26-28, 2020.
Digital Technology Sabha Awards are given to the government department and agencies that demonstrate innovative use of a particular technology or a combination of technologies for distinct benefits to the stakeholders. This includes deploying a completely new solution or an innovative use of an existing technology to gain a competitive edge, improve operations, become more responsive to customers and partners or, simply, to add to the top or bottom line.
This is the fourth award to be given to CID of Andhra Pradesh. In 2018, the AP CID received the award, followed by the Indian Express award for digital transformation, Technology Sabha award in January for developing an interactive dashboard for AP Police Housing Corporation and in August 2020, for developing an interactive portal enabling many women to register complaints online.
