Warning for iPhone Users: Severe Security Flaws Detected in Apple Products – CERT-In
The central agency CERT-In has issued a severe warning for iPhone users, flagging multiple vulnerabilities in Apple products that could lead to serious security breaches. Users are advised to update their software to mitigate risks and enhance device security.
New Delhi: The Central agency CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) has issued a severe warning for iPhone users, highlighting multiple vulnerabilities in various Apple products. The vulnerabilities, if exploited, could lead to serious security breaches, including unauthorized access to sensitive information, execution of arbitrary code, bypassing security restrictions, denial of service (DoS), and spoofing attacks.
According to the advisory issued on August 2, the vulnerabilities are found in several versions of Apple software, including:
– iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 17.6 and 16.7.9
– macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.6
– macOS Ventura versions prior to 13.6.8
– macOS Monterey versions prior to 12.7.6
– watchOS versions prior to 10.6
– tvOS versions prior to 17.6
– visionOS versions prior to 1.3
– Safari versions prior to 17.6
These vulnerabilities could allow attackers to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service, and perform spoofing attacks on the targeted systems.

The CERT-In has urged all Apple users to apply the necessary software updates as listed by Apple to avoid any high-level risks. Apple released its latest security updates last week, and the most recent versions of these software are available on its official website. In May this year, CERT-In issued a similar warning, flagging high-level risks associated with these vulnerabilities, noting that hackers could gain elevated access to devices, bypass security restrictions, and disclose sensitive information or take complete control of the device.
Users are advised to regularly monitor all communications from Apple and keep a check on all advisories. Exercising caution when accessing and interacting with potentially malicious websites, links, or files, and staying up-to-date on security updates, is crucial. Keeping passwords strong and regularly backing up data will help enhance the security resilience of Apple devices.
