The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high-severity alert for Apple devices, warning users of critical security flaws. According to the agency, iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch devices, among others, have vulnerabilities that hackers could exploit to gain unauthorized access to users’ data.
Officials stated that these flaws are spread across Apple’s software and system components. Exploiting these weaknesses, hackers can trigger data leaks, system crashes, or unauthorized access. Users who have not installed the latest updates are at the highest risk.

Older iOS, macOS Versions Most Vulnerable
CERT-In clarified that older versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Safari, watchOS, and other Apple software are particularly vulnerable. Ignoring these flaws could allow attackers to take full control of devices, potentially leading to data theft, malware attacks, and system failures.
Cybersecurity experts advise Apple users to immediately update their devices to the latest software versions. They also recommend downloading apps only from trusted sources, avoiding suspicious links or unknown emails, and regularly backing up important data. Strong passwords and two-factor authentication for iCloud accounts are essential for enhanced security.
Lockdown Mode Proven Effective
Experts stressed that digital safety depends not only on updates but also on caution and vigilance. Installing apps from unknown sources, opening unsolicited email attachments, or conducting sensitive transactions on public Wi-Fi can increase risks.
CERT-In emphasized that users who have not yet updated their Apple devices should do so immediately. It also urged the public to report any suspicious activity or potential hacking incidents to the relevant authorities and banking institutions without delay.
Over the past few years, Apple has consistently improved security features, including Lockdown Mode, which protects devices from spyware attacks. Experts noted that Lockdown Mode has proven technically impenetrable during four years of testing, with no spyware able to breach it so far.
Police and cybersecurity specialists highlighted that timely alerts are crucial to prevent major cyberattacks. Failing to update devices could expose personal data, photos, financial transactions, and other sensitive information to potential breaches.
CERT-In specifically advised iPhone, iPad, and Mac users to regularly check device security settings and immediately report any unauthorized access. Users were also warned against sharing sensitive information over public or shared networks.
With this alert, the need for vigilance has never been greater for Apple users. Ignoring technical vulnerabilities not only threatens personal data but can also impact national cybersecurity. Experts reaffirm that timely updates and cautious usage remain the strongest defense in the digital world.
