Ranchi:    The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Chief Commercial Inspector (CCI) of South Eastern Railway, Ranchi, after he was caught accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The action was taken following a complaint filed by the aggrieved party.

According to sources, the CBI registered a case on March 25, 2026, against the accused. The complaint alleged that the Ranchi CCI had demanded a bribe equivalent to 10% of the complainant’s pending bills amounting to approximately ₹8.70 lakh, in exchange for clearing them. Acting promptly, the CBI laid a trap and caught the official red-handed while accepting the first installment of ₹50,000 as agreed.

Authorities stated that searches are ongoing at both the office and residential premises of the accused. The investigation revealed that the officer attempted to misuse his position to extract unlawful benefits from the complainant.
