In a first, Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested two agents from Gujarat and Rajasthan each, who were working in K K Park Scam Compound of Myawaddy, Myanmar, majorly being operated by Chinese Nationals. These agents were repatriated this week by Indian Airforce from Thailand’s Mae Sot Airport.
The arrests followed the Government of India’s coordinated effort to rescue several Indian victims from Myanmar in recent weeks. During the debriefing of rescued individuals, CBI identified multiple local agents who had been actively recruiting and transporting victims to these scam centers on behalf of foreign handlers.
The X post from India’s CBI announces the arrest of two agents, Soyal Akhtar and Mohit Giri, for trafficking Indian nationals from Rajasthan and Gujarat to Myanmar’s cyber scam compounds, where victims endure wrongful confinement and coercion into global fraud operations like digital arrest and romance scams.

CBI’s public advisory emphasizes vigilance against unauthorized overseas job offers on social media, as investigations reveal a large-scale network exploiting unemployed youth, potentially facing life imprisonment under human trafficking laws.
Such operations against illegal recruitment agents, especially those working in South East Asia will create a deterrence in the human trafficking fueled scam activities which brings bad name to the Nation. – Said Prof Triveni Singh
