New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a senior official of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) along with three private individuals in a high-stakes bribery scandal.
The accused, including an NHAI General Manager and a senior executive of a private company, were caught red-handed exchanging a bribe of Rs 15 lakh in return for undue favors in contract approvals and bill processing.

The investigative agency launched a series of raids across multiple locations, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Begusarai, Purnia, Ranchi, and Varanasi. These searches led to the shocking recovery of Rs 1.18 crore in cash, along with several incriminating documents and digital evidence.
According to the CBI, the accused public servants allegedly conspired with private company representatives to manipulate contracts awarded by NHAI. In exchange for illicit financial gratification, they facilitated the smooth processing of contract-related bills. The investigation revealed that the bribe money was pre-arranged, and the transaction was carried out at a fixed location in Patna on March 22.

With the probe still underway, authorities are digging deeper into this web of corruption, signaling a firm crackdown on financial misconduct in government infrastructure projects.
