New Delhi:     Panic gripped parts of the national capital on Thursday after four private schools received bomb threat messages within a span of just over an hour, prompting large-scale emergency responses and temporary evacuations. After intensive searches at all locations, security agencies confirmed that no suspicious or explosive material was found, and the threats were later declared hoaxes.

Threats Arrive Within an Hour

According to fire control room records, the first alert was received at 8:22 am from a private school in the Delhi Cantonment area, which reported a bomb threat call. This was followed by a threat email at 9:18 am to a school in CR Park, then another at 9:22 am to a school in Anand Niketan, and a fourth email at 9:25 am to a school in Dwarka’s Sector 23. Each school immediately informed local police and emergency services.

Evacuations and Security Sweep

As a precautionary measure, police teams, bomb disposal units, dog squads and fire department personnel were rushed to all four locations. School authorities were instructed to evacuate students and staff, while entry points, classrooms, corridors, auditoriums and open areas were cordoned off for systematic checks. Parents were informed and asked to collect their children, leading to visible anxiety outside school gates.

At the CR Park school, dozens of parents arrived shortly after the evacuation announcement. Several were seen waiting anxiously for updates as security teams combed the premises. Similar scenes were reported outside the other schools, where movement was restricted for several hours during the checks.

Threats Declared Hoax After Searches

After thorough inspections, officials confirmed that no explosives or suspicious objects were detected at any of the four schools. Police subsequently termed the threats “hoax emails” sent with the apparent intention of creating panic and disrupting normal functioning.

Preliminary assessment suggests that the emails were sent as part of a coordinated attempt to spread fear rather than indicating a genuine security threat. Cyber teams have been tasked with tracing the origin of the emails, analysing IP addresses, routing paths and digital footprints to identify those responsible. Technical analysis is underway to determine whether the messages originated locally or were routed through masked servers.

Cyber Probe and Pattern Under Review

Investigators pointed out that similar threat emails had recently been sent to schools in neighbouring regions such as Gurugram, Noida and Chandigarh, all of which were later found to be false alarms. Authorities believe the Delhi incidents may be linked to the same pattern, though confirmation will depend on the outcome of the cyber probe.

School managements stated that established safety protocols were immediately activated upon receiving the threats. Administrators stressed that student safety remained the top priority and said the evacuation and coordination with emergency services were handled in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Outside one of the evacuated schools in Delhi Cantonment, a parent waiting to collect his child said repeated hoax threats were causing unnecessary distress to families and students. He demanded strict action against those responsible, warning that such incidents not only disrupt education but also create lasting fear among young children.

Police have urged schools and institutions to continue reporting any such threats without delay and to avoid speculation while investigations are ongoing. Authorities also appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with emergency measures during security checks.

By early afternoon, normalcy gradually returned as students were allowed to leave with their parents and schools resumed administrative operations. However, the incident has once again raised concerns over the misuse of digital platforms to spread panic in sensitive public spaces.

Further action will be taken once the source of the emails is identified, with officials indicating that those behind the threats could face stringent legal consequences.
