‘Biggest Cyber Outage Ever’? Crowdstrike Update Causes Global Windows 10 Chaos
Windows 10 users globally are facing massive outages due to a recent Crowdstrike update, causing PCs to be stuck on the recovery screen. The issue has affected various sectors, including airports and banks, leading to significant disruptions. Crowdstrike has acknowledged the problem and is working on a fix. Meanwhile, users have shared temporary solutions online.
Windows 10 users around the world are experiencing significant outages due to a recent Crowdstrike update. This update has led to numerous PCs getting stuck on the recovery screen, displaying a message: “It looks like Windows didn’t load correctly. If you’d like to restart and try again, choose Restart my PC below.” The issue has caused widespread disruption, impacting airports, companies, banks, and government offices globally.
Crowdstrike acknowledged the problem in a recent support page update, attributing the crashes to issues with the Falcon Sensor. The company stated, “CrowdStrike is aware of reports of crashes on Windows hosts related to the Falcon Sensor. Symptoms include hosts experiencing a bugcheck\blue screen error related to the Falcon Sensor. Our engineering teams are actively working to resolve this issue, and there is no need to open a support ticket.”
The issue has sparked reactions from netizens across various platforms. Users from different parts of the world, including Malaysia and Japan, reported extensive disruptions, with some organizations even ordering a company-wide shutdown. One user shared on Reddit, “Malaysia here, 70% of our laptops are down and stuck in boot, HQ from Japan ordered a company-wide shutdown.”
In response, some users have proposed temporary fixes. One Reddit user suggested a workaround: “Update: Can confirm the below stops the BSOD Loop. Go into CMD from recovery options. Change to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. Rename Crowdstrike to Crowdstrike_Fucked. Start Windows. It’s not great but at least that means we can get some windows back.”
Crowdstrike is actively working on a permanent solution to the problem, and users are advised to stay tuned for updates from the company.
