BCA Graduate Arrested For Making Election Commission’s Clone Website And Printing Fake IDs
NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly creating a look-a-like website of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and issuing hundreds of bogus voter IDs.
Vipul Saini, a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) graduate from Nakur town’s Maccharhedi hamlet in Saharanpur district, was arrested on Thursday.
During the initial investigation, authorities discovered that Saini generated over 10,000 fraudulent voter IDs over the course of three months at the request of a man called Armaan Malik from Madhya Pradesh.
Saini was paid Rs 100-200 per ID, according to Saharanpur Senior Superintendent of Police S Channappa, and when his bank account was inspected after his arrest, the police discovered Rs 60 lakh placed in it.
The account was put on hold right away.
Police are looking into the money’s origins and seeking to learn more about Malik, who, according to Saini, used to provide him daily job reports.
Saini’s residence was raided by police, who seized two computers.
Authorities in Delhi will now seek court authorization to transport him to the national capital for further investigation, according to police.
According to cyber experts, there is no breach in the website of the election commission of India. ECI publishes the voter list which is in the public domain. Criminals export the data and format and fake identities are printed. Usually, these fake identifies and documents are used by illegal migrants and anti-national elements.
It will also be investigated to see if he has any ties to anti-national or terrorist groups, they said.
Saini received his BCA from Gangoh village in Saharanpur district, according to authorities. His father is a farmer.
