Agra: A case of alleged financial fraud involving a trusted acquaintance has been reported in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, where a man was allegedly duped of ₹6.15 lakh on the promise of high returns through an International Business and Cryptocurrency investment. The complainant, Akshay Kumar Singh, a resident of the Tajganj police station area, has accused his acquaintance Anand Kumar Singh of taking money in the name of QNet International Business and Cryptocurrency investment. The complainant alleged that he was persuaded to invest without being given complete information about the nature of the business, associated financial risks and refund policy.

According to the complaint, Anand Kumar Singh allegedly told Akshay Kumar Singh that he could earn substantial profits by investing in an International Business and Cryptocurrency-related venture. Trusting his acquaintance, Akshay allegedly agreed to make payments through the method suggested by the accused. The complainant later claimed that the details and credentials provided to him raised questions about the actual status of his investment.

Money allegedly transferred in multiple payments

According to the complaint, Akshay transferred ₹3.11 lakh to the accused’s bank account on November 20 and another ₹1.75 lakh on November 27. In addition, two Products were allegedly purchased at a combined stated value of ₹4.87 lakh. The complaint states that the payments related to these transactions were also transferred to Anand Kumar Singh’s bank account.

The complainant alleged that only ₹90,000 was subsequently returned to him, leaving ₹5.25 lakh outstanding. When he allegedly sought repayment of the remaining amount, he did not receive a satisfactory response. He subsequently approached the police and submitted details of the transactions.

The complaint mentions the alleged fraud amount as ₹6.15 lakh, while the amounts cited for individual payments and Products indicate a difference in the transaction figures. Police are verifying the actual amount involved through bank records, payment details and other documents submitted during the investigation.

Fake email ID allegedly created in victim’s name

Another significant allegation concerns an email account allegedly created in Akshay Kumar Singh’s name without his consent. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly arranged for a separate email ID to be created and used it in connection with the business-related process.

The complainant further alleged that login credentials were provided only on December 20, 2025, nearly a month after the payments were made. By that time, the refund period allegedly prescribed under the company’s rules had expired. The complainant has alleged that the delay in providing the login credentials prevented him from exercising the available refund option within the prescribed period.

The investigation will examine who created the alleged email ID, how it was used and whether the account and login credentials were created or accessed with the complainant’s authorization.

Bank records and WhatsApp chats submitted

Akshay Kumar Singh has provided the police with bank transaction records, purchase receipts and screenshots of WhatsApp conversations. These documents are being examined to establish the financial transactions between the complainant and the accused and to verify the claims made during their communication.

Investigators are also examining how the money received by the accused was used and whether other individuals were allegedly approached through a similar investment proposition.

FIR registered against accused

Based on the complaint and documents submitted by the complainant, an FIR has been registered against Anand Kumar Singh at Tajganj police station. The investigation includes examination of bank transactions, purchase receipts, WhatsApp conversations and digital records associated with the alleged email account.

Police are also verifying the sequence of payments, the alleged investment arrangement and the circumstances under which the login credentials were provided. Further action will depend on the evidence collected during the investigation. If additional transactions, victims or other individuals linked to the alleged scheme are identified, they may also be brought within the scope of the investigation.
