The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out a major operation against bribery on Wednesday, arresting Dr. Shravan Meena, Principal of Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Medical College, Sirohi. The ACB team from Jaipur caught him red-handed while accepting a ₹50,000 bribe. According to officials, the arrest was made at his residence in Jaipur, from where he was taken into custody.
Complaint Leads to Trap Operation
The ACB initiated the operation following a complaint filed by a contractor. The complainant alleged that Principal Meena had demanded a ₹50,000 bribe to clear pending bills related to hostel construction work at the college. After verifying the complaint and confirming its authenticity, the bureau laid a trap. The ACB team apprehended Meena in the Raja Park area of Jaipur while he was accepting the bribe.
Raid Conducted Under DG Govind Gupta’s Supervision
The operation was conducted under the direction of ACB Director General Govind Gupta. Acting on the verified complaint, the team collected solid evidence before executing the trap. Following Meena’s arrest, the ACB also raided his Jaipur residence and seized several documents and records linked to the case. Officials said the seized materials are being examined, and further investigation is underway.
Bribe Linked to College Contract Payments
According to ACB sources, the accused had been exploiting his position to demand illegal payments from contractors working with the medical college. He allegedly withheld the clearance of bills until bribes were paid. Officials said the bureau maintained complete secrecy during the verification phase to ensure the accused could be caught red-handed.
Ongoing Statewide Anti-Corruption Drive
The Rajasthan ACB has been conducting a statewide crackdown on corruption across various government departments. In recent months, several officials and employees have been arrested for bribery. Authorities stated that continuous vigilance and strict enforcement will continue as part of the bureau’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
