New Delhi. The Delhi Police Cyber North team has busted an alleged racket involving loans taken in the names of individuals and companies using forged documents and arrested Sahil (36) from Sonipat. According to police, the accused allegedly used a woman entrepreneur’s PAN card, GST-related documents, signature and other details to obtain a business loan of ₹7.30 lakh in the name of her company. Investigators found transactions exceeding ₹5.3 crore in bank accounts linked to the accused.

According to police, the investigation began after a complaint by a woman entrepreneur. N Singh, a resident of Burari, has been the proprietor of a company since May 2022. In July 2025, she received information over the phone that a business loan of ₹7.30 lakh had been taken in the name of her company in December 2023. She initially dismissed the information as a fraudulent call.

However, in January 2026, while applying for an education loan for her daughter, she discovered that a loan had already been taken in the company’s name. She then approached the police and filed a complaint. The investigation allegedly revealed that her business documents and identity-related information had been misused to obtain the loan.

During the investigation, police examined bank accounts linked to the accused and detected transactions worth more than ₹5.3 crore. Police also found that these bank accounts were linked to six complaints related to cyber fraud. The scope of the investigation was subsequently expanded to examine the accused’s activities and the movement of funds through the accounts.

Police arrested Sahil from Sonipat and recovered two mobile phones and three SIM cards from his possession. Investigators are now examining the devices and bank accounts to identify other people allegedly linked to the racket. Police are also probing who was involved in obtaining the fraudulent documents, facilitating the loan approval and transferring the money to different accounts.

The investigation has also indicated that the accused’s bank accounts were allegedly used in more than one suspected fraud. After links were found between the accounts and six cyber fraud complaints, police suspect that the banking channels may have been used to move alleged proceeds of fraud. However, the exact role of the accounts and the movement and utilisation of the money will become clear only after the investigation is completed.

In such cases, cybercriminals allegedly misuse identity and business documents to obtain financial services in the names of unsuspecting victims. Details such as PAN cards, GST records, signatures and company documents can be misused to submit fraudulent applications if they fall into the wrong hands. Police are now questioning the accused to determine how he allegedly obtained the entrepreneur’s documents and at what stage they were used in the loan process.

A woman has also been bound down in connection with the case after questioning. Police are continuing to examine the financial transactions linked to the accused and the connections between the six cyber fraud complaints to determine the extent of the alleged network.
