Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. A case involving alleged false information about a groom’s job, salary, landholdings and family business has come to light in Bilaspur. A woman has filed a complaint against her husband and his family, alleging that several claims made before the marriage about the groom’s employment and income were false or misleading. She also alleged that information about the family’s property and business was misrepresented. According to the complaint, her family was allegedly made to pay a total of ₹6.76 lakh before and after the marriage on different pretexts.
According to the complaint, the groom allegedly presented himself as a data analyst manager at a major company in Jaipur and claimed an annual salary of ₹48 lakh. His family allegedly claimed to own between 150 and 200 acres of land. It was also allegedly stated that the groom’s father operated a business with an annual turnover of around ₹88 lakh. The woman’s family reportedly agreed to the marriage after relying on these claims.

The marriage took place on March 12, 2026, at a hotel in Bilaspur. The woman alleged that after the marriage, questions arose about the biodata provided by the groom and the employment information mentioned in it. She claimed that the reality of several statements made before the marriage regarding the groom’s job, salary and family property came under scrutiny. The dispute between the two families subsequently escalated.
The woman has also raised allegations concerning wedding expenses. According to her complaint, the groom’s father had agreed to bear the expenses of the marriage. However, she alleged that some expenses, including those related to catering and a car, were not paid. She further alleged that her family was asked to provide ₹6.76 lakh before and after the marriage, citing different reasons.
After learning more about the claims made during the marriage negotiations, the woman approached the police. She initially filed a complaint in Jashpur, where a zero FIR was registered. The case was subsequently transferred to Bilaspur police for investigation. The complaint includes allegations concerning the groom’s employment, salary, family property, business and the money allegedly taken from the woman’s family.
Police have registered an FIR and begun an investigation. Investigators are examining information related to the groom’s employment and salary at the time the marriage was arranged, along with the biodata and documents concerning the family’s alleged property. The alleged ₹6.76 lakh transactions and claims relating to wedding expenses are also being examined.
Police have contacted the parties involved and are investigating the allegations made in the complaint. The investigation will determine whether the information provided by the groom and his family during the marriage negotiations was genuine or whether any facts were deliberately misrepresented. Further legal action will be taken on the basis of documents, financial records and other evidence collected during the investigation.
