The investigation into the death of Walterganj Station House Officer Surya Prakash Singh has taken a critical turn, with police revealing that the officer was entrapped in a honey-trap scheme and systematically blackmailed prior to his death in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district. According to officials, the officer was subjected to sustained extortion through private video calls and messages, leading to severe mental distress. Investigators stated that digital evidence and call detail records played a central role in breaking open the case, exposing a coordinated racket targeting the local police station chief.
Honey-Trap Scheme and Video Call Blackmail
Police stated that a woman identified as Priyanka Chaudhary initiated contact with the station house officer and drew him into a personal relationship. She subsequently used recorded video calls and private chats to threaten and pressure him. As the threat of exposure grew, the officer reportedly conceded to successive financial demands in an attempt to protect his reputation and avoid public scandal. Investigators noted that the nature of the communication indicated an intentional plan to create compromising material that could be exploited for monetary gain over an extended period.
Extortion of Over Fifteen Lakh Rupees by Accused Ring
The investigation revealed that Priyanka Chaudhary was not operating alone and was backed by several accomplices who participated in extracting money from the officer. Alongside the primary accused, her father Ramnayan Chaudhary, advocate Vijay Prakash, Dr. Umesh, Ahmad Raza, and Aryan Dixit have been named in connection with the extortion ring. According to police records, the group managed to collect more than 15 lakh rupees from the officer through continuous coercion. Driven to acute despair by the unrelenting financial pressure and intimidation, the station house officer ultimately ended his life.
Call Detail Records Unravel Syndicate Network
The case was solved after investigators conducted a detailed analysis of the deceased officer’s phone data and communications logs. The call detail records established consistent communication patterns, direct links, and transactional interactions between Singh and the individuals involved in the racket. Officials confirmed that forensic scrutiny of mobile communications proved vital in establishing the identities of the syndicate members.
