An alleged multi-crore fraud linked to property investment and lucrative cashback offers has surfaced in Rajasthan’s Sikar district. A husband-wife duo associated with a company allegedly promised people cashback of up to 100% to 150% on purchases of electronic goods and investments in plots. Several people allegedly paid substantial amounts after being assured of attractive returns and property deals. When the promised cashback and plots were not delivered, the victims approached the police and courts seeking action and recovery of their money.

According to the complainants, a total of 19 cases have been registered against the accused in different police stations across Sikar and Jaipur districts. Eight cases were reportedly registered at Ringas police station, while three each were registered at Shrimadhopur and Khatushyamji Sadar police stations. Additional cases have also been filed at Chaumun, Murlipura and Vidyadhar Nagar police stations in Jaipur. Several cases in Sikar were registered through complaints filed before courts.

Electronics business allegedly used to attract investors

According to the complaints, people in the Ringas area were allegedly approached by individuals associated with Green Angels Private Limited. Some victims reportedly met Sunil Kumar Dhela and his wife Anita Dhela at a customer service centre near the Bikaner Stand in Ringas.

The couple allegedly introduced themselves as operators of the company and claimed to be involved in the sale of electronic goods and plots in the Khatumod area. They allegedly told prospective customers that the company offered 100% cashback on purchases and investments.

In some cases, victims have alleged that they were promised cashback of up to 150%. The unusually high returns allegedly encouraged people to invest larger amounts, based on assurances that their money would be protected through the proposed property and electronic goods transactions.

Fake maps and documents allegedly shown

The complainants have alleged that the accused showed them maps and documents relating to plots in Shyam Green Angels City-2, located on the Aloda Samar Road in Khatushyamji. The documents allegedly created the impression that the plots were available for purchase.

Trusting the representations and documents shown to them, several complainants allegedly transferred money to the accused. However, when the promised plots were not handed over and the money was not returned, the victims began questioning the transactions.

Some complainants later allegedly discovered that the land identified for the proposed plots was not available at the stated location. This led to allegations that the property documents and maps shown to them had been used to induce payments.

Cases filed across multiple districts

After the alleged fraud came to light, victims approached different police stations and courts. A group of complainants reached the Sikar Superintendent of Police’s office on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum seeking the arrest of the accused and recovery of the money allegedly taken from them.

Victim Rakesh Lora said multiple cases had been registered against the husband-wife duo in different police stations. Investigators are now attempting to examine the cases collectively and determine the number of people allegedly affected and the total amount involved.

Police begin investigation

Police have started investigating the allegations. In Sikar district, the cases registered through court directions have reportedly been assigned to officers at the sub-inspector and assistant sub-inspector levels.

Investigators are examining the complaints, payment records, property documents, maps and other papers allegedly provided to the victims. They are also expected to verify the ownership and availability of the land connected with the proposed projects.

A key part of the investigation will be to establish how money was collected, whether the company actually possessed the properties it claimed to offer and how the cashback scheme was presented to customers.

Police may also examine bank transactions to trace the movement of the alleged proceeds and identify other people who may have been involved. Further action, including possible arrests, will depend on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
