A real estate developer’s visit to the CID (Crime) office in Gandhinagar has led to an FIR against a man who allegedly posed as a police inspector and repeatedly threatened the developer in an attempt to pressure him into settling a business dispute.
Katargam police registered the case against Tarun Parmar following a complaint by real estate developer Dhaval Vavadiya. Parmar allegedly introduced himself during phone calls as an inspector posted with CID (Crime) in Gandhinagar, threatened Vavadiya with legal action and asked him to settle a dispute involving his business partners.
Business Dispute Led to Alleged Threat Calls
According to the complaint, Vavadiya’s family members Vijay Vavadiya and Jayesh Gehani had formed a partnership called Cosmo Gems LLP with Ahmedabad-based Uday Odedara and his father Raja Odedara. The venture was intended to manufacture CVD diamond machines but was dissolved on March 31, 2026, after it failed to take off.
The FIR states that the Odedara family owed money to the Vavadiya family and had promised repayment in June. When the payment allegedly did not materialise, the Vavadiya family repeatedly followed up with reminders.
On August 5, Parmar allegedly called Vavadiya and threatened him over his calls to Uday and Raja Odedara. He allegedly identified himself as a police inspector with CID (Crime) in Gandhinagar and threatened to register a case against Vavadiya while asking him to settle the dispute.
According to the complaint, Parmar frequently called Vavadiya and threatened him with legal action. He also allegedly summoned him to Gandhinagar while claiming to be posted with CID (Crime).
Developer Visits CID Office, Finds No Inspector by That Name
Vavadiya travelled to Gandhinagar on August 7 and called Parmar for a meeting. Parmar reportedly told him that he was out of town.
Suspicious about the caller’s claims, Vavadiya went to the CID (Crime) office and made inquiries. Police officers there told him that no police inspector named Tarun Parmar was serving with the department.
Vavadiya later met Raja Odedara at his Ahmedabad residence and asked whether any police complaint had been filed in connection with their dispute. After Odedara denied lodging a complaint, Vavadiya approached Katargam police.
FIR Registered for Impersonation and Threats
Based on Vavadiya’s complaint, Katargam police registered an FIR against Parmar for allegedly impersonating a public servant and issuing threats.
The allegations centre on claims that Parmar falsely presented himself as a CID (Crime) inspector and used the purported police identity to pressure the developer over the private business dispute.
Police have begun further investigation into the case.
