Bengaluru: A passport and boarding pass swap case has surfaced at Kempegowda International Airport, where immigration authorities have arrested two foreign nationals for allegedly attempting to evade immigration checks using exchanged boarding passes and travel documents.

Boarding Pass Swap Detected

According to immigration officials, the incident took place on June 23 when Canadian passport holder Chiwarajah Dachshan and Sri Lankan national Sinnappu Subakaran allegedly exchanged their boarding passes in an attempt to board different international flights.

Investigators said Dachshan was scheduled to travel to London on an Air India flight, while Subakaran had a confirmed booking on a Singapore Airlines flight to Singapore. Authorities suspect the exchange was part of a pre-planned attempt to manipulate immigration checks.

Cases Registered Under Immigration Law

The alleged irregularity was detected during immigration verification, after which officials examined the passengers’ travel documents and travel records. The inquiry reportedly found inconsistencies that raised suspicion of document misuse and identity-linked travel fraud.

Separate criminal cases were registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immigration and Foreigners Act. Both accused were taken into custody for further questioning.

Larger Network Under Probe

Investigators are examining whether the two acted independently or were part of a wider international network involved in illegal migration, identity fraud or forged travel documentation.

Authorities are analysing digital evidence, travel histories, airline records and related documents to determine how the alleged swap was planned, whether additional forged documents were used and whether anyone else assisted the accused.

The investigation remains underway, and further action will be based on evidence collected during the probe.
