The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the RPF station in-charge of Rourkela under the Chakradharpur railway division in Jharkhand in connection with an alleged bribery case involving an illegal vendor. The officer was reportedly caught red-handed while accepting ₹12,000 during the operation.

According to the report, the CBI carried out a targeted operation in Rourkela, West Singhbhum, leading to the arrest of RPF station in-charge Kamlesh Samadar. The official was allegedly apprehended while accepting ₹12,000 in cash, bringing the operation to a swift conclusion.

Allegations linked to illegal vending and extortion
The case pertains to allegations that the RPF officer had been demanding bribes from illegal vendors operating in the railway area. The complainants alleged repeated harassment and pressure for payments in exchange for allowing vending activities to continue.
Investigation widens after arrest
Following the arrest, the operation has triggered concern within the Chakradharpur railway division and the Railway Protection Force. The CBI is now examining the broader network linked to alleged bribery practices, including possible involvement of others and the system of collection from illegal vendors.
