Pune: A major controversy emerging from Hinjawadi, one of India’s leading IT hubs, has raised serious concerns about employee protection and corporate accountability in the private sector. More than 700 employees and interns were left jobless after a technology company abruptly ceased operations. Based on complaints filed by affected workers, the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has been arrested on allegations of cheating and criminal breach of trust, while investigations have also been initiated against other members of the management team.

The matter came to light after a large number of employees alleged that the company shut down its operations without any prior notice. Workers claimed that salaries and stipends had remained unpaid for several months, even as management repeatedly assured them that all pending dues would soon be cleared. Despite these assurances, employees say no payments were made and they were never informed about the company’s actual financial condition.

Broken Promises and Sudden Closure

According to complainants, the company carried out an extensive recruitment drive during 2025, hiring software engineers, fresh graduates, and interns with promises of attractive career opportunities and professional growth. During the initial months, salaries and stipends were reportedly paid on time, helping build confidence among employees. However, payment delays gradually became a recurring issue.

Former employees allege that salary disbursements became irregular beginning in January. Management reportedly attributed the delays to funding challenges, internal audits, and administrative issues. Employees claim they repeatedly sought clarification and demanded their pending dues, but were consistently assured that payments would be released shortly.

The situation escalated when several employees arrived at the office on a regular working day only to find the premises locked. Workers allege that no official communication was issued before the company halted operations. Attempts to contact senior executives and company representatives reportedly yielded little response, leaving employees uncertain about both their jobs and pending payments.
