Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Police have launched an investigation after a parcel delivery employee allegedly disappeared with jewellery consignments worth more than ₹80 lakh that were meant to be delivered to traders in Bhuj and Gandhidham in Kutch. A case of criminal breach of trust and cheating has been registered as officials examine whether the incident was part of a planned fraud.

High-Value Parcels Sent for Delivery

The accused has been identified as Jigar Singh Dashrath Singh Vihol, who was employed with a jewellery logistics firm operated by businessman Ankitbhai Pravinbhai Parekh. The firm handled parcel deliveries for jewellers across Gujarat.

According to police, the missing consignments included gold ornaments, silver bullion, diamond jewellery, pearls and collectible coins. The total value of the goods has been estimated at around ₹80.51 lakh.

One of the largest consignments reportedly included nearly 30 kilograms of silver bullion, valued at approximately ₹73 lakh, along with several jewellery parcels belonging to different traders.

Employee Fails to Reach Bhuj Delivery Point

As per the complaint, the accused was assigned delivery duty on May 6, 2026, and was sent from Ahmedabad to Bhuj by bus. He was expected to hand over the parcels to company representatives after reaching the designated delivery point.

On the following day, he allegedly failed to arrive at Jubilee Circle in Bhuj. Repeated attempts to contact him were unsuccessful as his mobile phone was switched off.

Police later found that both the employee and the jewellery consignments were missing. Investigators are examining whether the disappearance was planned and whether the accused received help from others.

CCTV and Digital Tracking Under Probe

Kalupur Police are reviewing CCTV footage from bus terminals, transit points and possible stops linked to the accused’s travel route. Officials are also analysing mobile tower data and travel records to trace his last known location.

The missing parcels reportedly belonged to several jewellery businesses, including Kutchhi Jewellers, Mehul Gems, Gold Roof Diamonds, Om Sai Agency, Jai Bhole and other traders. The case has caused concern among jewellery businesses that regularly depend on parcel logistics for high-value consignments.

Police have deployed teams to trace the accused and recover the missing valuables. Authorities are also checking whether the goods were moved, sold or transferred after the accused disappeared.

The incident has raised questions over security checks in jewellery logistics, particularly where high-value consignments are handled by individual employees. Investigators are continuing efforts to locate the accused and determine whether a wider network was involved.
