Yamuna Vihar Raid on March 27
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, on March 27, the team received reliable information regarding the activities of this international gang operating from Yamuna Vihar. Following this, the police raided a third-floor rented flat. Inside, the team found a sealed cardboard box containing 83 smartphones of various brands. After questioning, both suspects were apprehended.
Officials revealed that Savez had a prior criminal record. Post-arrest, the police have begun investigations to trace other locations and links of the gang. Authorities said this operation not only prevented financial loss to the public but also sent a strong message against organized mobile theft and illegal sales.
Interrogation Tracks Wider Network
Interrogation of the arrested suspects is ongoing, and police are tracking other gang members and recipients of the stolen phones in different cities. They also confirmed that the recovered phones will soon be returned to their rightful owners.
Over 100 Stolen Phones Recovered: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has recently succeeded in locating lost and stolen phones and returning them to their owners. This year, the Anti-Gang Squad recovered 33 phones, 19 of which were returned to their rightful owners. The South Range recovered 31 phones and the North Range 50 phones, which were handed back to their owners.
CEIR Portal Powers Mobile Tracking
Police used the Government of India’s CEIR portal for mobile tracking, and field teams maintained constant monitoring. The Joint Commissioner of Police stated that separate programs were organized on Friday to return the recovered phones to their owners.
This operation has not only slowed down gang activity in mobile theft cases but also impacted the international network involved in phone smuggling. According to police officials, this success will serve as a strong warning to other gangs in the coming days.
Experts say that tracking mobile theft and its international network is challenging. Only through continuous police efforts and technological tools can such gangs be identified and apprehended.
Following the interrogation, police have traced other recipients and gang links in different cities, paving the way for further operations. Authorities have appealed to the public to report any recently lost or stolen mobile phones immediately.
