Police have arrested pharmacist Mohammad Zubair Ali alias Gulji in connection with the alleged embezzlement of government surgical medicines from the district hospital store. June 2024 Hospital Medicine Theft Exposed
The incident is reported to have taken place on June 14, 2024, when allegations emerged regarding the suspected disappearance of government surgical medicines from the district hospital store. Based on a complaint, a case was registered at the Kotwali police station under Sections 409 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code. It is alleged that the medicines stored in the hospital warehouse were systematically removed for financial gain.
Stock Register Discrepancies Reveal Planned Diversion
During the investigation, pharmacist J.D. Bansal, pharmacist Mohammad Zubair Ali alias Gulji, Nand Kishore and an unidentified vehicle driver were named in the complaint. Authorities allege that discrepancies were created between the stock register records and the actual inventory of surgical medicines, suggesting a planned diversion of supplies for illicit purposes. Police initiated verification of stock registers, distribution logs and transportation documents.

According to police officials, the search for the absconding accused was continuing as part of a special crackdown on crime. In this operation, accused Mohammad Zubair Ali alias Gulji (45), a resident of Bahadurpur locality under Sadar Bazar police jurisdiction, was arrested on February 27, 2026. He was detained around 2:45 PM from the premises of a community health center in the Nigohi area.
Probe Targets Larger Medicine Supply Network
Investigators are currently interrogating the accused to determine the involvement of other possible individuals in the case. Police are also examining whether the embezzled medicines were part of a supply network and if any outsider was involved in facilitating the diversion.
The alleged embezzlement of hospital medicines has raised serious concerns as it directly affects public healthcare services. Authorities have stated that misuse of government medical supplies harms patient welfare and strict action is necessary in such cases.
Police officials said that the financial records of the arrested accused, along with mobile call data records and other digital evidence, are being examined.
