CBI Arrests Senior Passport Superintendent in Disproportionate Assets Probe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Passport Superintendent—earlier posted at the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Ghaziabad and currently serving at RPO Mumbai—for allegedly attempting to influence witnesses and mislead the ongoing investigation into a disproportionate assets case. The arrest was made late on 8 December 2025.

DA Case Registered in March 2025

CBI had registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against the official on 24 March 2025. Investigators alleged that the public servant amassed assets worth ₹85,06,900, which amounted to 146.43% disproportionate to his known sources of income during the check period from 30 July 2018 to 30 September 2024.

Searches Recover Cash and Property Details

During the investigation, a search at the accused’s residence led to the recovery of approximately ₹60 lakh in unaccounted cash. The agency also found documentation of investments in immovable properties and multiple high-value expenditures that investigators said could not be justified through legitimate income.

Court Orders Attachment of Properties

Acting on CBI’s request, the Special Judge (Anti-Corruption), CBI Court, Ghaziabad, issued an ad-interim attachment order on 17 September 2025. The order covered the accused officer’s assets, including one residential flat and one commercial shop, pending completion of the investigation.

Accused Sent to Police Custody

Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the CBI Court in Ghaziabad on 9 December 2025. The court granted police custody until 12 December 2025 to facilitate further interrogation and evidence collection.

CBI officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and further financial and asset analyses are underway to determine the full extent of the alleged illegal gains.
