Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, successfully conducted a two-day International Symposium on Financial Fraud Investigations on November 10 and 11, 2025. The event was jointly hosted by the School of Behavioural Sciences and Forensic Investigations (SBSFI) and the RRU Student Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).

Keynote Speeches and Presentations

The symposium opened with key insights from Shri V. S. Sundaresan, Former Executive Director at SEBI, who stressed the growing significance of forensic accounting in enhancing ethical and transparent financial systems. Coverage included presentations on cryptocurrency investigations by Prof. Shweta Jain of New York, highlighting challenges of decentralized digital currencies, and CA Samir Chaudhary from ICAI introducing forensic audit standards to bolster investigative quality.

Mr. Neeraj Kulshrestha, CEO of NSE IFSC Clearing Corporation, focused on insider threats in capital markets and the necessity for robust surveillance and compliance mechanisms.

Panel Discussions and Expert Insights

A panel discussion moderated by Dr. Naveen Kumar Singh explored building holistic frameworks for financial fraud detection through interdisciplinary intelligence. Panelists from academia and professional services emphasized collaboration as a cornerstone of effective fraud prevention.

Additional sessions included Mr. Nivrtee Patil’s techniques for detecting insurance fraud and Mr. Akash Rosen’s overview of digital fraud evolution and forensic tools.

Research and Future Directions

The symposium also featured research paper presentations on topics such as fraud analytics and behavioral profiling, judged by a panel of experts from RRU. Discussions underscored the urgent need for cross-disciplinary cooperation among law enforcement, financial institutions, and forensic professionals to counter financial crimes effectively.

The event concluded with reaffirmation of the vital role forensic accounting and global cooperation play in safeguarding financial infrastructures against increasingly complex fraud schemes.
