The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Manager (Personnel–HR) of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), posted at the Dakra Project Office in Jharkhand, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The official was caught red-handed by a CBI team during a trap operation conducted on Friday.
According to the agency’s press release, a complaint was received alleging that the accused had demanded ₹1.5 lakh from the complainant in exchange for processing an application related to compassionate appointment for a family member. After verifying the allegations, CBI registered a case on November 6, 2025, and initiated a trap operation.
The accused had reportedly agreed to accept ₹50,000 as the first installment of the demanded bribe. During the planned operation, CBI officials apprehended the manager while accepting the amount from the complainant.
Following the arrest, searches were conducted at the accused’s office and residence, during which several incriminating documents and digital devices were recovered.
A CBI spokesperson stated that the investigation is still ongoing to determine whether other officials or employees were involved in the bribery scheme.
The agency emphasized that this action reinforces its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in public institutions. Citizens have been urged to report any instances of corruption or bribery through the official CBI website
