Lucknow | Special Correspondent:  Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that police personnel fond of shooting social media reels while on duty will not be posted in sensitive or high-security areas.

Calling such behavior a mark of indiscipline and irresponsibility, the Chief Minister said:

“Do not deploy police officers at sensitive locations who are fond of making reels. This is indiscipline. The duty of the police is public service — not performing for social media.”

The directive came during a high-level review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister to assess law and order, crowd management, and preparedness for upcoming festivals including Diwali, Dev Deepawali, Guru Nanak Jayanti, and Kartik Purnima.

“Discipline and Dignity Are Essential to Public Service”

Mr. Adityanath emphasized that the police symbolize safety, order, and trust — and therefore must conduct themselves with restraint, humility, and discipline.

He acknowledged that social media can be a tool for communication, but warned that its misuse while on official duty tarnishes the integrity and seriousness of the police service.

“Officers who treat their uniforms as a stage for self-promotion will not be posted in sensitive zones or near religious and VIP sites,” the Chief Minister said.

Social Media and the Responsibility of the Uniform

In recent years, social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube have become popular among police personnel to share moments from their duty. While this trend has at times improved public outreach, the Chief Minister’s remarks underline the need for balance, restraint, and professionalism.

“Public confidence in the police is built through action, not attention,” he said. “The people expect sensitivity, vigilance, and readiness — not showmanship.”

Strict Directives Ahead of the Festive Season

Mr. Adityanath also instructed district magistrates and police chiefs to ensure smooth traffic, sanitation, crowd control, and disaster management during festive gatherings. He directed that lighting, CCTV coverage, floating barriers, medical aid, and security arrangements be in place at all ghats and public venues. The Chief Minister also ordered immediate compensation within 72 hours to farmers whose crops were damaged due to recent rains and humidity.

Focus on Discipline and Professionalism

“Discipline is the greatest strength of the police force,” the Chief Minister remarked.

“Making reels or engaging in self-promotion is a deviation from the core purpose of policing. The uniform stands for duty, not display. Public trust must be earned through service and integrity.”

He further stated that under the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ (Developed India 2047), Uttar Pradesh is advancing its governance and policing model toward greater professionalism, accountability, and technological efficiency.

Conclusion

The message from the Yogi government is unequivocal the police must aim for public trust, not social media fame. The uniform is not a costume for attention, but a symbol of service, restraint,
