NEW DELHI: India’s Unique Identification Authority (UIDAI) has unveiled a high-level expert committee to shape the future of Aadhaar through its Vision 2032 roadmap — a decade-long blueprint aimed at fortifying the nation’s digital identity framework with advanced technologies such as AI, blockchain, and quantum computing, while aligning it with global privacy and cybersecurity standards.

In a bid to future-proof India’s digital identity ecosystem, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has formed an expert panel to guide the development of Aadhaar Vision 2032, a strategic framework to strengthen scalability, resilience, and privacy safeguards across the system. The initiative comes at a time when global scrutiny around data protection and digital rights is intensifying, and governments are recalibrating how personal identity systems operate in the era of artificial intelligence.
UIDAI Chairperson Neelkanth Mishra will head the newly formed high-level expert committee. Members include UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar, Nutanix founder Dheeraj Pandey, and MOSIP head of engineering Sasikumar Ganesan, alongside legal and academic leaders such as Trilegal partner Rahul Matthan, Amrita University’s Prabaharan Poornachandran, Michigan State University’s Anil Jain, and Sarvam AI co-founder Vivek Raghavan. The committee’s mandate: to ensure Aadhaar’s next chapter remains secure, inclusive, and adaptive to a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

UIDAI’s Vision 2032 initiative marks a significant departure from the program’s initial focus on universal identity access toward a more technologically fortified ecosystem. The roadmap emphasizes leveraging cutting-edge technologies — including Artificial Intelligence (AI) for anomaly detection, Blockchain for data integrity, Quantum Computing for advanced cryptography, and Adaptive Encryption techniques for evolving cyber threats.
According to the official statement, this approach seeks to ensure Aadhaar “remains resilient against evolving cybersecurity threats, scalable for future demand, and adaptive to the rapidly changing digital landscape.” It also aims to integrate with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, aligning Aadhaar’s architecture with contemporary privacy principles and international data norms.
