Detecting Threats, Freezing Fraud

Cyber units in Srinagar and Jammu have become more proactive in tracing fake social media accounts and shutting them down. Police say they have recovered stolen funds in many incidents and blocked fraudulent bank transactions faster than before. Teams are working round the clock to monitor suspicious activity and provide quicker assistance to victims.

Awareness & Prevention Efforts Intensified

Realizing that many victims fall prey due to lack of knowledge, the police have launched digital safety campaigns aimed at schools, colleges and rural areas. These include sessions on recognizing phishing links, fake investment offers, and blackmail attempts. Special attention is paid to vulnerable groups like senior citizens and students, who are often targeted online.

Public-Private Tie-ups and Systemic Steps

Authorities are collaborating with banks and telecom operators to ensure that fraudulent numbers and accounts are swiftly blocked. Technical interventions like tracking tools, account flagging, and hotlines are being improved. Police officials believe that public cooperation has also played a big part in boosting trust and visible results.

With cyber complaints having risen over the years — from dozens to many hundreds — J&K’s force now says catching fraudsters and educating citizens are helping bring stability. While the threats evolve, so does the response.
