Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh — Questions have once again been raised on the transparency of health services in the state. A large-scale fraud has been uncovered in the recruitment of X-ray technicians. The Directorate of Health has instructed that FIRs be registered in all such cases and trials be conducted against the involved individuals.

The office remained open even on Sunday, and Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) from various districts were summoned with files related to suspicious appointments. Initial investigations have revealed that in several districts — Bareilly, Moradabad, Ghaziabad, Prayagraj, Hardoi, Aligarh, Rampur, Farrukhabad, and Lalitpur — dozens of appointments were found to be dubious.

403 Appointments Under Suspicion

Out of more than 1,200 recruitments made in the state, at least 403 are now under question. Officials stated that candidates who secured jobs using forged documents will face legal cases and dismissal from service.

The scope of the investigation is currently being expanded. The Directorate has made it clear that “not even a single fraudulent candidate will be spared.”

Credibility of Governance Questioned

Experts believe this issue is not just about irregularities in recruitment but also a direct blow to the credibility of the entire healthcare system. If fraudulently appointed individuals were providing services in government hospitals, patient safety could have been at serious risk.

Cybercrime and recruitment expert Professor Triveni Singh commented: “Fake appointments are not merely a corruption issue. They are a direct violation of people’s right to healthcare. Until recruitment processes are made fully digital, transparent, and real-time monitored, such cases will continue to surface.”
