Fake Stock Market Call Centers Exposed: Police Arrest 29 in Major Fraud Operation

The Cyber Crime Police Station under Varanasi Commissionerate has cracked down on a large-scale cyber fraud network operating under the guise of stock market investment schemes. Based on intelligence and surveillance, police busted two illegal call centers and conducted raids on ten similar establishments suspected of duping investors. A total of 29 individuals have been arrested, including the three prime accused initially identified in Raj Tower, Sigra. An FIR (Case No. 0033/2025) was registered under Sections 318(2), 318(4), 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 66C and 66D of the IT Act.

Modus Operandi

The accused lured victims through deceptive advertisements on social media platforms, claiming to offer profitable stock market opportunities. Once investors responded, telecallers established contact and shared fake videos showing fabricated gains. After convincing victims to open trading accounts, the fraudsters seized access and forced repeated buying and selling of shares, charging heavy brokerage each time. Nearly 40% of the so-called profits were transferred directly into the personal accounts of the operators.

Arrest and Seizure

So far, 29 accused have been arrested from different locations as part of the wider crackdown. Among them are::

  • Ritika Yadav (25), resident of Luxa, Varanasi
  • Dheeraj Dubey (34), resident of Jaunpur district
  • Vikram Yadav (23), resident of Chandauli district

During the operation, officials seized three mobile phones with SIM cards and ₹3,830 in cash. Further investigation into the money trail is underway.

Team Led By

The crackdown was conducted under the directives of Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) . A large joint team of inspectors, sub-inspectors, head constables, and constables from the Cyber Crime Police Station and Cyber Cell Varanasi assisted in the arrest.
