Senior NHAI Officer Compulsorily Retired in a Corruption Case Following a CBI FIR

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has forcibly retired P.L. Choudhary, General Manager and Project Director at the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), after his arrest on bribery charges. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) caught Choudhary red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh for issuing a completion certificate related to the Jhansi Fourlane project.
The investigation revealed that Choudhary had been involved in corrupt practices, leading to a charge sheet being filed against him. His actions allegedly delayed the clearance process, affecting project timelines. The arrest was part of the CBI’s broader crackdown on corruption within government infrastructure projects.

Following his arrest, MoRTH swiftly took disciplinary action by issuing an order for his compulsory retirement. The ministry emphasized that strict measures would continue to be taken against officials involved in corrupt activities to ensure transparency in infrastructure development.
The case has raised concerns about corruption in major highway projects, prompting authorities to strengthen vigilance mechanisms. It also serves as a warning to other officials about the zero-tolerance policy towards bribery in government departments.
The government continues to push for accountability and ethical governance in public-sector projects. With increased scrutiny and enforcement, MoRTH and investigative agencies aim to **curb financial misconduct** in infrastructure development and ensure public funds are utilized efficiently.
