CBI Arrests PSU General Manager for Rs 10 Lakh Bribery Scandal
CBI arrests Bridge and Roof Company’s Group General Manager for taking a ₹10 lakh bribe. The arrest was part of a sting operation in Bhubaneswar, which also implicated a private company director and another accomplice for facilitating the bribe.
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested the Group General Manager (GGM) of Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd, a public sector undertaking (PSU), in Bhubaneswar for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh. The sting operation also led to the arrest of two others—a private company director who allegedly offered the bribe and a third person who facilitated the transaction.
The accused official was reportedly involved in corrupt practices, demanding Rs 10 lakh from the private company’s director in exchange for clearing bills and awarding future work orders. During a meeting on December 6, he assured that the bribe amount would be adjusted in subsequent billings.
Acting on a tip-off, the CBI laid a trap on Saturday. The GGM was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe. The bribe amount, delivered by the private company’s director, was recovered during the operation. Another individual present at the scene to facilitate the bribe exchange was also apprehended.

Following the arrests, the CBI conducted raids at eight locations in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata. These searches uncovered incriminating documents, digital evidence, and a vehicle used in the crime. Officials stated that a case has been registered against all four individuals involved, including the arrested parties.
The CBI accused the senior official of exploiting his position to indulge in corruption. “This arrest is a step towards ensuring accountability and transparency in public sector operations,” said a spokesperson for the agency.
The CBI has urged the public to report any knowledge of corrupt practices to their anti-corruption hotline. This case highlights the agency’s commitment to combating corruption and upholding integrity within public institutions.
