Uttarakhand STF and I4C successfully Prevent and Recover Over Rs34 Crores Lost to Cyber Fraud
Through coordinated efforts with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttarakhand Police has saved and returned over Rs34 crore to cyber fraud victims. SSP STF Navneet Singh has issued firm directives to both cybercrime police stations to leave no stone unturned in protecting citizens’ money. The cybercrime helpline number, 1930, has enabled prompt actions against cybercriminals and safeguarded funds amounting to millions.
In light of rising cybercrimes, the Cyber Crime Police Station in Dehradun has been actively operating the cyber helpline, 1930, where citizens can promptly report cyber fraud. Through the STF’s “Mission E-Suraksha Chakra,” Rs34 crore lost to cyber frauds has been recovered for affected citizens.
1. Modus Operandi : Unknown persons posed as representatives of “Financial Game W1” and promised high returns from stock market investments. This fraud led to a loss of Rs2,67,20,000 for the complainant.
Arrest & Seizure : The STF quickly mobilized a team consisting of Inspector Devendra Nabiyal who took necessary actions and successfully recovered Rs42,00,000. Further investigation is ongoing.
2. Modus Operandi : Fraudsters, posing as “Jobphent” agents, deceived the complainant by promising a job, visa, and other benefits, resulting in a loss of Rs22,96,000.
Arrest & Seizure : Inspector Vikas Bhardwaj led the investigation and managed to recover Rs10,00,000. Further investigation is in progress.
3. Modus Operandi : Fraudsters presented themselves as a foreign investment company and assured substantial gains from stock market investments, leading to a loss of Rs34,17,000.
Arrest & Seizure : Team acted swiftly, recovering Rs10,00,000 for the complainant. The investigation continues.
4. Modus Operandi : The suspects, claiming to be representatives of “M Stock Max,” promised high returns on investments in the stock market. The complainant was defrauded of Rs30,15,000.
Arrest & Seizure : Inspector Devendra Nabiyal and his team, acted quickly, recovering Rs7,15,000. Further investigation is ongoing.
5. Modus Operandi : The suspects impersonated CBI and Cyber Police officers from Mumbai, falsely accusing the complainant of involvement in various crimes and coercing him to cooperate with digital verification processes. This led to a loss of Rs95,00,047.
Arrest & Seizure : Inspector Devendra Nabiyal and his team was able to secure a complete recovery of Rs95,00,000 for the complainant. Investigation is ongoing.
6. Modus Operandi : The suspects, posing as CBI and Cyber Police representatives from Mumbai, falsely implicated the complainant in a series of crimes and used the threat of a “digital arrest” to demand cooperation. This led to a financial loss of Rs2,27,22,717.
Arrest & Seizure : Inspector Devendra Nabiyal and his team led the recovery operation, successfully retrieving Rs67,00,000. The investigation is ongoing.

The STF expressed gratitude to the I4C team, including CEO Dr. Rajesh Kumar (IPS), Director Roopa M. (IPS), and Deputy Secretary Deepak Virmani, for their cooperation in tackling cybercrime effectively.
Under the dynamic leadership of DySP Cyber, Ankush Mishra, several dedicated officers have been pivotal in the successful recovery of funds for cybercrime victims in Uttarakhand. The investigation teams, led by Inspector Devendra Nabiyal, Inspector Vikas Bhardwaj, have shown exceptional commitment and efficiency in handling each case. Their prompt action and rigorous efforts have resulted in the retrieval of significant sums, providing relief to victims of cyber fraud and demonstrating the department’s resolve to combat cybercrime.
SSP STF Navneet Singh has urged citizens to immediately report any cyber fraud to the cyber financial helpline at 1930 to maximize the chance of fund recovery.
