The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has exposed a massive scam worth Rs 130 crore. A call centre gang targeted US citizens, running investment frauds from India. The investigation revealed that criminals persuaded American victims to send money by making fake promises of high returns.
Sophisticated Operations Behind the Fraud
Investigators discovered that the group used modern technology, including fake caller IDs, to impersonate US-based financial officials. They contacted hundreds of people and convinced them to invest in non-existent schemes. When the money arrived in Indian accounts, it was quickly transferred between shell companies and withdrawn in cash.
Many victims suffered serious financial losses. Their complaints eventually triggered investigations by authorities in both the United States and India. As a result, the Enforcement Directorate began following the money trail.
High-Value Seizures in Raids
During raids, ED officers seized eight luxury cars, high-end electronic gadgets, expensive jewellery, and huge amounts of cash. The authorities believe these items were bought using the scam’s proceeds. Police arrested several members of the ring. In addition, digital evidence and records were confiscated to further strengthen the case.

Legal Proceedings and Cooperation
The accused now face strict charges under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Indian and American agencies are working together to map all links in the scam. Further arrests are expected as the probe continues.
Warning for Citizens
The public should be cautious about unsolicited investment calls, especially those promising unusually high profits. People are advised to:
- Never share personal or banking details with unknown callers.
- Verify investment offers before acting.
- Report any suspicious communication to local cybercrime authorities quickly.
By staying aware and informed, everyone can help prevent financial crimes like these.
