Fatehabad police have arrested Rajendra Prasad, a former patwari from Dhani Kajal Heri, for his alleged involvement in a large-scale fake crop compensation fraud linked to the 2021 kharif season. This scam caused a significant financial loss to the Haryana state treasury by enabling ineligible beneficiaries to claim government compensation meant for farmers genuinely affected by crop damage.

Following severe flood and drought-related crop losses during the 2021 kharif season, the Haryana government had announced relief funds and distributed compensation to affected farmers in 2022. However, during this process, several officials and employees allegedly manipulated official land and revenue records to support fraudulent claims.

Rajendra Prasad, along with others, allegedly prepared forged documents and altered revenue records to show fictitious crop losses. This enabled a number of ineligible individuals to receive government compensation illegally. Police officials confirmed that tampering with official land records and revenue data was the core tactic used by the accused.

Ongoing Probe and Arrest of Key Accused

An FIR was registered following complaints regarding irregularities in the compensation distribution process. Earlier investigations had led to the arrest of another accused, Kamaljeet, in connection with this case. After further inquiry and gathering evidence, police arrested Rajendra Prasad for his direct involvement in creating fake compensation claims by fabricating records.

Sub-Inspector Hanuman, who is leading the investigation, stated that Rajendra Prasad and others manipulated revenue data to falsely claim crop loss, which subsequently served as the basis for disbursing government funds to undeserving claimants.

Police Continuing Investigation to Uncover More Culprits

The police are actively continuing their investigation into the scam and have indicated that more arrests may follow as additional evidence is examined. Efforts are underway to trace all conspirators who facilitated the forgery and fraudulent disbursement of public funds.

Authorities emphasize that such scams not only drain the state exchequer but also deny rightful assistance to genuine farmers in need, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities.
