NOIDA– In a recent tale of deception, a Noida-based entrepreneur, Daljit Singh, has fallen victim to a staggering Rs 6.5 crore fraud orchestrated through a dating app.

The businessman, who resides in Sector 36 and runs a Delhi-based company, lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police on March 26, 2025, exposing a cunning scheme masterminded by a woman he met online.

The saga began in December 2024 when Daljit connected with Anita Chauhan on a popular dating platform. What started as casual chats soon morphed into a persuasive pitch: Anita convinced Daljit that he could rake in hefty profits through an online trading app, no experience required.

Enticed by the promise of easy money, Daljit took the plunge, initially investing Rs 3.2 lakh. To his delight, he pocketed a Rs 24,000 profit—a tantalizing teaser that spurred him to dive deeper.

Fueled by this early success, Daljit poured a jaw-dropping Rs 6.52 crore into the scheme, transferring funds to various bank accounts, some of which were borrowed as loans. However, the dream of financial windfalls quickly unraveled into a nightmare when he attempted to withdraw his earnings from the trading platforms, SpreadMKT and Sprecdex.cc.

Red flags emerged as the platforms demanded a hefty 30% security fee, followed by an additional Rs 61 lakh “exchange service fee,” raising Daljit’s suspicions of foul play.

The ordeal took a darker turn when Daljit discovered his bank accounts had been compromised, sparking fears that his personal information had landed in the wrong hands. Now, grappling with financial ruin and safety concerns for himself and his mother, Daljit has turned to the authorities for urgent intervention.

In his impassioned plea to the Cyber Crime Police, Daljit handed over a treasure trove of evidence: transaction records, Anita’s contact details, and specifics about the dubious trading websites. As investigators dig into this high-stakes scam, the case serves as a chilling reminder of the perils lurking in the digital world, where trust can come at an unimaginable cost.
