Operating from a Gurugram residence, they lured victims with offers to open hassle-free accounts, then retained ATM cards and chequebooks to siphon funds. Police seized phones, chequebooks, and a vehicle for evidence.
4. Police Rescue Bhopal Businessman from ‘Digital Arrest’
A Bhopal businessman was “digitally arrested” by cybercriminals impersonating TRAI and CBI officials, who accused him of identity misuse. The scammers demanded he isolate himself via a Skype video call. Alerted MP cyber police intervened, thwarting the scam. Though bank details were exposed, no money was lost, officials confirmed.
5. Fake Offer Letters for Cognizant, IBM: Cyberabad Police Arrest Fraudster for Cheating Job Seekers
Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police arrested a man from Gulbarga, Karnataka, for job scam frauds. He, previously arrested in August by Bengaluru’s Govindpur police for similar charges, deceived individuals with false job promises. Authorities confiscated a mobile phone from him, enhancing evidence for further investigation.
