1. Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police Recover Rs 21.55 Lakh in Refund

The Hyderabad cybercrime unit refunded Rs 21.55 lakh to victims of two cyber fraud cases. In one case, a person lost Rs 13.5 lakh to a fake investment in NUVAMA Securities, while a 67-year-old lost Rs 8.05 lakh to scammers posing as TRAI and CBI officials. Authorities warned against suspicious platforms and apps.

2. Cyber Crime Gang Dismantled, 18 Suspects Wanted in 320 Cases Arrested

In a week-long operation, Hyderabad police arrested 18 individuals involved in multiple cybercrime rackets across Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. The accused, wanted in 45 cases from Telangana, were linked to investment, FedEx, OTP, and insurance frauds. Police seized Rs 1.6 crore, 22 lakh in cash, mobile phones, and other items.

3. MP Woman Endures 5-Day ‘Digital Arrest,’ Loses Rs 46 Lakh in Fraud

A new cyber fraud method called “digital arrest” was used to deceive a woman in MP. Posing as a CBI officer, a fraudster claimed her account was linked to criminal activities and that an arrest warrant was issued. Fearing for her family, the woman transferred Rs 46 lakh before realizing the scam.

4. Hyderabad: Two Arrested for Defrauding Elderly Couple of Rs 10.61 Crore in Cyber Scam

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGSCB) arrested two men for defrauding an elderly Hyderabad couple of Rs 10.61 crore. Posing as Mumbai police, the fraudsters claimed the couple’s Aadhaar and PAN were linked to a money laundering case. The victims were tricked into transferring the funds through fake legal threats.

5. Police Arrest 21 Suspected Cyber Criminals

Lucknow police’s cyber team arrested 21 individuals involved in cyber fraud and recovered Rs 1 crore related to 13 cases registered in September. The cases involved amounts ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 23 lakh. Since January 2024, over Rs 200 crore has been swindled in more than 6,000 cases.
